Project Snapshot
Org: Jerry Falwell Library, Liberty University
Deliverables: Event ads · Digital display graphics · Presentation slide visuals
Outputs: Screen-ready signage · Slide assets for weekly conference use
Tools: Adobe Creative Cloud
Workflow: Brand guideline adherence · Department-specific styling · Export prep for display and presentation
During the final week of my senior semester, I completed a short internship at the Jerry Falwell Library at Liberty University as part of a graduation requirement. I designed event advertisements within the established brand guidelines of both the university and the library, ensuring each piece stayed consistent while still matching the visual identity of the specific department it supported. The work was used across on-campus displays and presentation slides for the library’s weekly conference, including communications for areas like the law library and online research resources.
Role
Graphic Design Intern. Created event promotion assets for display and presentation environments, applying brand standards and tailoring layouts to fit multiple library departments.
Focus
Brand consistency across university and library guidelines
Clear hierarchy for fast readability on screens and in-slide presentations
Flexible layouts that could shift between departments without losing cohesion
Clean exports sized correctly for on-campus digital displays and conference slides
Strategy & Concept
The primary goal was clarity within constraints. Each promotion needed to communicate quickly in a screen-first setting while staying fully aligned with both Liberty University and Jerry Falwell Library branding. The solution was a simple system: consistent hierarchy, disciplined typography, and modular layouts that could adapt to different departments and event types without feeling like separate one-off designs.
System Breakdown
Brand framework
Followed university and library brand guidelines to maintain a consistent institutional look
Matched department-specific visual identities as needed (including law library and online resources)
Screen-first layout rules
Built layouts with strong headline priority and simplified information blocks for quick scanning
Designed for legibility at distance and at smaller sizes within presentation decks
Production and delivery
Prepped multiple asset sizes for display screens and slide environments
Exported clean, ready-to-use files for immediate internal use during weekly conferences
Outcome & Reflection
Delivered a small set of event promotions that stayed brand-accurate and readable across both on-campus displays and presentation slides, while accommodating the distinct identities of multiple library departments.
Good institutional design feels seamless even when many stakeholders share the same space.
