Completed at Gimga Design Group, I designed and produced the visual system for the Council of Korean Americans’ Gala and Summit with significant ownership across the 2023 and 2024 events. I translated program content into a cohesive identity applied across high-visibility touchpoints—stage/digital backdrops, keynote and sponsor presentations, printed programs, and gala table collateral—ensuring consistent hierarchy, brand alignment, and production-ready execution across formats. In 2025, I supported the event in an assisting capacity while simultaneously leading deliverables for another concurrent event, maintaining continuity of the established system while balancing parallel production demands.
Role
Senior Graphic Designer — Gimga Design Group
Owned end-to-end event design production: developed the visual system, built templates for rapid iteration, managed stakeholder versioning, and delivered print-ready and screen-optimized files across formats under tight deadlines. Served as primary lead on CKA Gala & Summit deliverables for 2023–2024, and provided targeted support for 2025 while simultaneously leading full deliverables for a separate concurrent event.
Focus
Event identity system and template buildout
Presentation design (keynote + sponsor content)
Print production (programs, menus, place cards)
Environmental / large-format signage and onsite graphics
Versioning, QA, and final export packaging
Strategy & Concept
I created a scalable event identity designed to work consistently across both screen and print, with a clear typographic hierarchy and modular layout rules that could flex across schedules, sponsors, and last-minute program changes. The system prioritized legibility at distance (signage/stage) while maintaining refined detail in close-read pieces (programs and gala table collateral), allowing every touchpoint to feel unified without sacrificing usability.
System Breakdown
Shared Event System (Across Gala & Summit)
Built a cohesive visual identity that carried across the full attendee journey, from summit sessions to gala-night details
Established repeatable layout rules for hierarchy, spacing, and brand placement so every piece felt like one system
Designed components to scale cleanly across formats, from small table items to large-format signage and backdrops
Typography & Hierarchy
Clear, event-first information structure (what, where, when) to keep assets scannable in busy environments
Consistent type treatments for section headers, speaker/session info, wayfinding, and sponsor recognition
Legibility checks for distance viewing on screens and large-format placements
Production Workflow
Organized working files for fast updates across many deliverables (linked assets, naming consistency, version control)
Print-ready prep for programs and signage (sizing, bleed, export settings) plus QA to prevent production issues
Delivery-focused packaging for handoff across event formats, including digital display-ready exports
Deliverable Callouts
Presentations (Summit Sessions)
Designed a slide system that supported varied content types (speaker slides, agenda sections, content-heavy moments)
Kept layouts consistent so decks could shift between sessions without feeling pieced together
Printed Programs
Built a clean program structure that balanced schedule content, speaker information, and sponsor placement
Maintained consistent pacing and hierarchy for quick reference during a multi-day event
Large-Format Signage
Adapted the identity for banners and environmental placements with high readability and strong hierarchy
Maintained brand consistency while adjusting layouts for different sizes and viewing distances
Gala Details (Menus, Table Numbers, Place Cards)
Created a coordinated set of tabletop pieces to elevate the gala experience and keep details polished
Matched typography and spacing across items so the room felt intentional and cohesive
Stage & Digital Backdrops
Designed background visuals that reinforced the event identity without competing with speakers or program content
Prepared assets for clean display in stage and digital environments
Outcome & Reflection
The final system delivered a cohesive, high-end event experience across a wide range of deliverables—supporting fast stakeholder iteration while maintaining brand consistency from stage visuals to table details. This project highlights my ability to build practical design systems under real event constraints: multiple formats, tight turnarounds, and high visibility execution.
